Discover E-RIHS
The European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science (E-RIHS) is a Research Infrastructure initiative of 17 countries with a vision to transformĀ research on heritage interpretation, preservation, documentation and management.
E-RIHS aims to connect researchers in the humanities and natural sciences to scientific excellence and innovation and a trans-disciplinary culture of exchange and cooperation. State-of-the-art tools and services will be provided by cross-disciplinary groups of researchers to scientific and heritage user communities working to advance knowledge and to devise innovative strategies for its care and wider public benefit.
Services
E-RIHS advanced services to the scientific community will be provided through bringing together cutting-edge tools and expertise to its users:
- ARCHLAB: specialised knowledge and organised scientific information in datasets from prestigious archives.
- DIGILAB: Virtual access to scientific data concerning tangible heritage, including searchable registries of multidimensional images, analytical data and documentation from research and heritage institutions.
- FIXLAB: Access to largeāscale and medium-scale facilities for sophisticated investigations on samples or whole objects.
- MOLAB: advanced mobile analytical instrumentation for noninvasive measurements on valuable or immovable objects, archaeological sites and historical monuments.
Aims
The aims for the European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science are:
- To drive research on heritage interpretation, preservation, documentation and management.
- To integrate European world-class facilities in order to create a distributed but cohesive research infrastructure in the global community of heritage science.
- To overcome fragmentation, duplication of efforts, and isolation of small research groups to build new models of heritage science.
